KATHLEEN HAHN - Owner/Head Teacher

Kathleen started dancing at the ripe age of three. A few years and dance lessons later, she graduated with a B.F.A. in Modern Dance from North Carolina School of the Arts where she also finished high school in the ballet department. She continued on to New York City where she lived for seven years, dancing, making dance films, going to cooking school, working as a Certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor and starting her own business making customized exercise videos.

Kathleen most recently returned from her second stint in NYC studying pole dancing extensively at New York Pole Dancing (NYPD), the first pole studio to open in NYC under the ownership of Wendy Traskos. Kathleen has three pole certifications from NYPD.  Before opening her own DANCECLUB Asheville studio in May, 2016 Kathleen taught her Burlesque and Jazz/Funk classes for several years on the third floor of Loretta's Cafe. She also started I Do Dances in 2009, her wedding dance business, IDoDances.com, and has made dances for over 100 couples.

Kathleen is pretty sure everyone loves to dance. It's simply a matter of finding out what kind of dance excites you and makes you comfortable. Kathleen is only interested in sharing dance that is fun! Her excitement lies in helping people find that fun, comfort zone with confidence to be able to bust a move on any dance floor!

Ash grew up dancing at Dance Express in Connecticut and performing & competing in New York City, taking master classes at Broadway Dance Center. After moving to San Francisco to attend the Academy of Art University, she was fascinated by circus and aerial arts, and fell madly in love with pole dancing, chair choreography, and burlesque. Trading in her traditional dance attire for costumes and glitter, Ash performed throughout the Bay Area with the Fishnet Follies, Atomic Bombshells, Hubba Hubba Review, and the Garter Room.

Ash is in love with the community here, and is constantly inspired by sharing and growing through the classes she teaches. Driven by empowerment, love, and support, her ultimate goal is to promote unapologetic self acceptance and express it through dance.

Megan was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. Pole dance was introduced to her a couple years back as a fun way of getting in shape. Since then, pole has turned into a necessary form of artistic expression for her, as well as a means of pushing limits and boundaries she had previously set for herself. With a special interest in exotic movement, she aims to find beauty in this sensual and ultra feminine style of dance. Megan finds her inspiration from Carmine Black, Doris Arnold and Rihannan Nichole, to create choreography that allows her students to explore their own expression through Exotic Pole dance.

Jean is a Military trained Paramedic and Charge Nurse by day. It was not until her first class at DanceClub Asheville that she realized it was not too late to also live out her childhood dreams as a dancer. She traded in her combat boots for stilettos, immediately falling in love with how pole dance combined a wealth of strength, grace and sensuality.

After training in Atlanta, Jean also discovered a passion for twerk and all things bootylicious. She is a Certified Twerk Technician and loves to push the boundaries of conventional fitness. With the support of her dance family, she aims to empower others to find their confidence and inner vixen through dance.

Michelle Grasty-Colont started dancing at the age of 3, where she discovered simultaneous passions for both performance and felines with her stage-debut to The Pussycat Polka. From there, Michelle trained in her hometown of Waynesville, NC as a competitive dancer and singer until attending college at Appalachian State University, where she dabbled in some dance classes, but ultimately thought her dance career was over.

In early 2014, after living in Asheville for a few years, Michelle signed up for a dance class on a whim. One class was all it took to reignite the fire, and Michelle hasn’t stopped tapping her toes since. Under the mentorship of local dance teacher and health coach Christine Garvin, Michelle was able to refine her performing technique and teaching skills. Michelle began teaching her Babes & Bottles dance pop workshops in Fall 2016, and is a founding member of Asheville dance troupe Liquid Sirens, where she serves as a principal dancer and one of the choreographers for the troupe. Michelle has also taught classes in modern, song & dance, and jazz...but mostly a LOT of Beyoncé.

Michelle is so excited to be a teacher at Danceclub and believes so strongly in the studio’s vision that everyone can (and should) dance! She can’t wait to contribute to such a beautiful and passionate community.

Shelley is a hair stylist by day, and our Twerk Aerobics Instructor by night! You can catch Shelley every Thursday at 6:30 at DanceClub Asheville and you can't miss her. Full of energy and laughing, it's a guaranteed good time if Shelley's around, and that goes for her classes, too. Her love of shaking her booty, and her spunky attitude are just a couple reasons why she's an amazing instructor.

Shelley has always loved to dance. In middle school she began recording music videos on her TV and teaching herself the moves. Wanting to learn more, she joined an All Stars competitive cheerleading team where she found her love for entertaining crowds.

Getting back into dance after getting her cosmetology license, Shelley found DanceClub Asheville, and walked in during Twerk Aerobics and instantly fell in love all over again. She began taking classes, became inspired by Lexy Pantera, Queens N Lettos, took Workshops with Nastya Nass in Atlanta, and now teaches Twerk Aerobics at DanceClub!

Shelley believes booty shaking creates happiness, that everyone can Twerk, and should! Come let her teach you all her bootylicious ways on Tuesday nights!

Jennie showed up at DanceClub Asheville for her first class over a year ago. That day, she was thrown right into a chair and pole routine! She didn't flinch one bit and jumped right in (and off the chair onto the pole), and has constantly challenged herself ever since.

We love Jennie's girl power vibe, her incredibly sultry dance style, and her desire to empower women through dance. She believes deeply in pole dance as a means to self confidence and strives to give all her students the guidance and freedom to express and embrace all their sexy goodness on the dance floor.

She teaches Sexy Sunday Slow Jams every Sunday at 5pm. Don't miss it!

Stephanie was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. She holds a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification through Asheville Yoga Center and Yoga Alliance, and is working on completing her 500 hour RYT. She specializes in vinyasa power flow, but enjoys incorporating yin and yang elements as well as myofacial release principles into her classes. She loves expressing herself through dance and music, and finds influence in organic movements from everyday experiences.

Stephanie found yoga later in life because of reoccurring injuries that prevented other forms of exercise. She quickly fell in love with her practice and the mindfulness it brought to her everyday life. She hopes to encourage people to turn within and listen to their bodies needs while enjoying the yummy-ness or longer held postures.
